Equity-Focused Cannabis Companies

Vic Mensa Launches a New Cannabis Brand Called 93 Boyz

93 Boys is a brand-new "equity-focused cannabis company" launched by the famous Chicago rapper and activist Vic Mensa. The initiative is making history as the first Black-owned cannabis brand in the state of Illinois.

Many celebrities have turned to cannabis entrepreneurship in recent years—from Snoop Dogg's Death Row Cannabis to Seth Rogen's Houseplant. Vic Mensa is doing it a bit differently, however. At the heart of 93 Boys' mission is the "reinvestment in the communities and individuals that have been historically and disproportionately affected by outdated laws, prejudices, and assumptions regarding cannabis consumption." 93 Boys will uphold this ethos in a number of ways. For one, the brand will deliver sustainable cannabis products through a partnership with aerīz. Secondly, 93 Boys is undertaking a Books Before Bars initiative to provide books to underserved Illinois prison libraries.
