The Xiao Li RCA 2013 Collection is About Pastel and Puffy Proportions
Meghan Young — September 24, 2013 — Fashion
The Xiao Li RCA 2013 Collection is as fun and playful as her previous fashion lines. But instead of being as blatantly inspired by childlike objects like toys such as her 2010 collection was, these designs are much more abstract and sophisticated. That is, once people move past the puffy marshmallow proportions.
Created once again for the Royal College of Art, the Xiao Li RCA 2013 Collection is not just innovative in terms of silhouette. In fact, Victor and Rolf has been playing with odd shapes and forms for some time now. Instead, it is the material the designer has opted to use that sets these creations apart from similar ones. She combines pastel knitwear and three-dimensional spacer fabric for designs inspired by modern architecture and 60s Balenciaga.
