The WhistlePig The Boss Hog XI: The Juggernaut has been added to the brand's series of aged rye whiskeys that puts a series of traditional Indian cuisine spices in the spotlight for connoisseurs alike to take note of.
The expression is inspired by a trip to India where the whiskey makers encountered the aromatic thandai drink during the Holi festival in Jaipur. The whiskey was thus finished in barrels seasoned with saffron, cardamom, cinnamon, fennel, nutmeg, black peppercorn and poppy. Coming in at $600 a bottle, the sprit is bottled with an ABV ranging from 51.9% to 52.6% and features an NFC label on the rear for authentication.
Head Blender Meghan Ireland spoke on the WhistlePig The Boss Hog XI: The Juggernaut saying, "Every year we challenge ourselves to craft a rye that is more stupendous, inspired, and intricate than each edition of The Boss Hog before it. After expanding our original five promises for The Boss Hog to 10 tenants last year, we set out on our biggest challenge yet. When we discovered thandai in India, we knew we had to find a way to translate its spice profile to a showstopping whiskey barrel for this precious rye.”
