Firestone Walker, a family-owned craft brewery based in California, has launched a masterful West Coast IPA that is designed to take drinkers on a flavor odyssey that includes stopovers deep in the realms of proprietary Mosaic Cryo hops as well as acquaintances with juicy mango notes and an all-round tropical character.
The 'Hopnosis' West Coast IPA makes use of an array of new-world hops that are highlighted by Cryo Hops. Developed by none other than the Firestone Walker team, the Cryo Hops were crafted by leveraging the bitter and aromatic oils and resigns found in lupulin concentrate from hops. As far as the construction of the hop flavor profile is concerned, Firestone Walker went about using copious amounts of hops at approximately five pounds per barrel of beer.
The end result is a beer that is delectably hoppy without being overpowering, with notes of passionfruit, grape and mango adding sweetness, tartness and juiciness for good measure.
