The Apple Watch itself promises to be a handy wearable music player, but thanks to a collaboration with streaming service Beats Music, this device will become even more handy for fitness and entertainment.
Rather than having people waste time coordinating the perfect playlist, the Apple Watch app called HeartbeatsMUSIC is designed to pick up on a beat a wearer's body might life. The app is able to do this by detecting factors like calories burned, heartbeat rate and pulse. Using this data collected from sensors on the device, HeartbeatsMUSIC suggests a song with a matching beats per minute to accompany a cardio workout.
In addition to these biometric features, the app makes use of the Apple Watch's built-in microphone to pick up on tracks playing nearby, which makes it a lot like Shazam. Over time, the app is able to build better personalized playlists based on a user's likes and dislikes.
