As a result of a deal with Nissan and Renault, Waymo driverless cars will be brought into Japanse and French markets. However, the deal does not outline any plans to launch either Waymon's robot taxi or delivery service. The deal does state that the three organizations will come together to "explore driverless Mobility services for passengers and deliveries."
The autonomous driving company finds itself as a central figure in the industry. Waymo driverless cars have undergone testing in Phoenix for the past two years. The company also has a vast number of partnerships including Fiat-Chrysler and Jaguar-Land Rover. This new deal with Nissan-Renault increases Waymo's reach.
This deal is also the first time Waymo has partnered with a company that already has self-driving technology, where Nissan has a well developed ProPilot Assist 2.0 system.
