Waymo and Wayfair are Testing Autonomous Shipping This Summer
Michael Hemsworth — June 29, 2022 — Business
Waymo and Wayfair have been linked in an upcoming test market initiative taking place this summer that will see the furniture company's products shipped using the autonomous transportation brand's vehicles.
The announcement comes as part of a pilot project being held by Waymo and JB Hunt Transport Services along specific shipping routes in Texas. Wayfair is one of JB Hunt's customers and will see deliveries being sent out during a six-week-long test taking place this July and August.
The furniture deliveries will be completed by the brand's existing fleet of vehicles, while the brand is also testing its fifth-generation Driver technology. This includes a combination of sensors, hardware and artificial intelligence (AI) software within its own fleet of Class 8 trucks.
