Marcelo Cerda, a Mexican-based product designer, recently launched the 'Walking Spider Espresso Set.' The intriguing set takes inspiration from the long, slender legs of a Daddy Long Legs spider. When the cups are stacked in fours, it resembles a walking spider with its curved, arched handles.
Cerda states his purpose when designing the Walking Spider was "to create expressive objects which generate experiences to the user. I focused on the sophisticated movement they do when they walk." Cerda hopes to use the Walking Spider to show consumers that spiders are not "evil" and that they have an important purpose in our environment.
This striking tea set was the winner of the FORMA (Insects' World) competition in 2019 and is available online and in select retailers.
