Senegalese artist and designer Abdou Salem Gaye worked with Design label David Weeks in creating the WAAW furniture and lighting collection. The WAAW series is created to be suitable in both indoor and outdoor environments. The collection is comprised of an arm chair, a low table, and a pendant light -- made available in three colorway options. All of the furniture and lighting pieces are constructed in Dakar, Senegal using a traditional weaving technique with polyester yacht cords.
To make the pieces more durable and suitable for outdoor purposes, the cords are wrapped around steel frames. The colorful limited-edition WAAW collection will be available for purchase in TriBeCa and will be showcased along with sculptural works by artist Elodie Blanchard at David Weeks Studio in New York.
