Ill-Studio collaborated with fashion brand Pigalle to create this colorful sports arena that completely alters the aesthetics of traditional basketball courts. This multi-colored basketball court is comprised of primary colors that differentiate sections of the arena.
Using red, blue and yellow colored shapes to outline the court is a clever way to incorporate logical and playful aesthetics. While the court resembles something from a cartoon show, it provides an explosive color display among the traditionally concrete buildings. The inspiration for the boldly colored arena came from Russian artist Kasimir Malevich's 1930s artwork titled Sportsmen. The ultimate goal for this court was to recreate the loud colors displayed in the sports-oriented oil painting.
The entire court is made of ethylene propylene diene monome rubber, which is a durable material that is often used for playgrounds or sports areas.
