Vector Studio already has quite a collection of impressive designs under its belt, but its latest innovation involved transforming an old sugar mill into a beautiful hostel. The architecture firm, based out of Beijing, recently transformed an old sugar cane mill in Yangshuo county into an impressive and absolutely gorgeous hostel. The hostel, dubbed the Alila Yanshuo, resides between two mountains and was deigned to blend the natural landscape with a rustic and sharp design.
The design of the structure was lead by Dong Gong of Vector Studio and features interiors by Ju Bin of Horizontal Space Design. Alila Yangshuo was inspired with the idea of blending local indigenous culture with a more modern appeal. Paying homage to local architecture, the structure boasts strong lines and utilizes local stone and bamboo. The overall aesthetic of the hostel is meant to inspire harmony as the converted sugar mill blends naturally with the gorgeous landscape.
