Paris-based Vincent Callebaut Architectures has unveiled a truly stunning vision for an urban footbridge, located in the French capital, that would use ample greenery to improve the city's aesthetic whilst also showcasing a range of eco-friendly technologies and sustainable methods to grow food.
Dubbed the Green Line, this urban footbridge would link the 12th and 13th Arrondissements of Paris, allowing pedestrians to move between the two areas without relying on vehicular transport.
Pedestrian convenience aside, this urban footbridge also aims to play home to some 3,500 square meters of fruit and vegetable gardens, which would allow it to generate an estimated 87,500 kg of produce per year. The nearby riverbanks are envisioned to host fish habitats, water purification stations and a further 91,500 square feet of gardens.
Ambitious in its scope, the Green Line offers a vision for the future of greenspaces and sustainable technology in the world's great cities.
