Danish architecture studio BIG showcases a look at its master plan for the Mindfulness City development that will take place in Bhutan. It has big plans to highlight an international airport as well as an impressive hydroelectric dam that will also be home to a temple. The development will be in the Gelephu town along the border and will be built around a set of bridges that are inhabitable.
Founder of BIG, Bjarke Ingels, explains the design, that it is "Shaped by waterways, Gelephu becomes a land of bridges, connecting nature and people, past and future, local and global. Like the traditional Dzongs, these inhabitable bridges turn into cultural landmarks, doubling as transportation infrastructure combined with civic facilities."
