Swedish designer Christoffer Jansson designs a new virtual apartment as a part of a social experiment for the Uncanny Spaces project. For a month, the designer pretended to live in this space that he exhibited at this year's Stockholm Furniture Fair. The project follows the narrative about the designer purchasing and renovating the home that he designed inspired by a real flat in Heleneborgsgatan. The dimensions of the space were also replicated and the virtual iteration was filled with some of the designer's own belongings to make it even more realistic.
He even photographed details including cracked wallpaper from the real flat to replicate digitally. He explains, "My intention was to explore the home as a tool for communicating status and identity on social media and to discuss the impact of rendered images within interior architecture. I also wanted to challenge my rendering skills and see if I would be able to convince the viewer that the apartment physically existed."
