Paul Yakubu Developed the Umbrealla Crate Stall

Nigerian designer Paul Yakubu has created the Umbrella Crate Stall, which is made by blending an umbrella with a modular system of display crates. This forms the trading stall, which optimizes space in busy street markets. To create the stall, Yakubu based it on his own research of Lagos markets and other Nigerian cities, which commonly use umbrellas as shelters.
He also noticed that stalls are difficult in a crowded market and wanted a simpler setup and dismantling system. Yakubu explains more on the design, "The umbrella crate stall improves the organisation of open markets in cities by providing traders with a structured system for organising and displaying products. It provides adaptability, flexibility, modularity and organisation for informal open markets within a 12-square-metre circular area."
