Lyft Added Transit Directions for San Francisco
Daniel Johnson — October 31, 2019 — Business
Lyft will now provide transit directions for users in the San Francisco Bay Area. The new feature includes directions, route options, and scheduling -- all relating to public transportation. The new transit directions can also work in conjunction with Lyft's other services, like ride-hailing or scooter rentals. The company indicates that a lot of its popular bike stations are close to bus stops, and other forms of public transportation.
Through Lyft's inclusion of public transportation directions, it is clear the company is looking to become more than a ride-hailing platform. As more and more ride-hailing services emerge in the market, Lyft is attempting to become a platform that is a transportation hub.
Currently, Lyft has added transit directions for nine different major cities.
