Tinder is arguably the most used dating app in the world but Tinder U, a new twist on the app, focuses its attention on helping university students meet. To ensure only university students use this version of the app, Tinder U will require users to provide a verified .edu email address. The app will then put users through several other layers of verification before allowing them to officially set up an account.
Unlike traditional Tinder profiles, Tinder U will automatically display the user's school, along with name, and age. From there the interface resembles the basic version of the dating app, allowing users to “like,” “dislike,” “super like,” and more.
This new focus on university students is being done as Tinder is attempting to reach out to its large user base of people between 18 and 24. According to Brian Norgard, chief product officer at Tinder, "With Tinder U, we’re excited to honor our roots with a new experience that helps students meets other students nearby."
