Many students across America's college campuses struggle with food insecurity and Yurp's mobile app helps them to secure free food on a daily basis. The mobile platform shows students where to find events on campus with an abundance of leftover food. All students who have signed up for the app will receive a notification directing them to their next meal.
The app also provides a social networking platform for students to meet one another and stay up to date with numerous college events. The platform also boasts reminders, so users can set up their calendars to notify them before the event, and so event creators can upload photos and flyers on the platform.
The Yurp app currently has over 800 UNCC student users and plans to expand across the country in the near future.
