Toronto bar The Standard is a modern take on prohibition-era speakeasies and fuses a menu of craft cocktails with chic decor. Located behind the secret door of a Parkdale pizza shop, the speakeasy boasts chromatic mood lighting, comfortable furniture and fun trinkets like plastic flamingos that adorn its bar.
When downstairs, visitors can experience the secret bar's Instagram-friendly washroom area -- featuring an optical illusion-inspired hallway. The walkway is specially designed to mimic immersive art and aims to draw in Millennial audiences.
The Standard is set to open to the public later this month and is a contemporary homage to prohibition-era cocktail bars. In addition to a menu of craft cocktails and bites, the bar will play host to club nights with an old school hip-hop and r&b playlist.
