British studio Chetwoods has been commissioned by China's Hua Yan Group to create a proposal for the 'The Phoenix Towers,' a pair of pillars to be located in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The towers are intended to improve the city's polluted air and lakes, as well as become an iconic attraction for the city.
Upon its completion, the larger pillar will stand at an impressive kilometer, officially making it the world's tallest structure. It will reach a full 150 meters above the Burj Khalifa, which is currently the world's highest building. In terms of functionality, the taller tower will house multiple filtration systems to clean lake water and the surrounding air.
The second tower is equipped with a louvre ventilating system, a vertical garden and light control. It will also contains restaurants, galleries, bars and other leisure facilities for visitors.
