The Flaming Lips Play Live on The Late Show While Wearing Plastic Domes
Grace Mahas — June 17, 2020 — Pop Culture
The COVID-19 pandemic has made it very difficult to hold in-person events, especially any with over five people, however, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert implemented an innovative solution to hold a live concert on-air while still respecting social distancing protocols. The television show had The Flaming Lips play 'Race for the Prize' while safely contained in large plastic bubbles.
While The Flaming Lips have often been filmed while enclosed in this unusual suit, this concert had a pivotal difference
— the audience also enjoyed the show from the floor while donning the same large bubbles, making it safe for the venue to be occupied.
