The New Museum is hosting 'The Keeper' exhibition, which features 3,000 photographs of people posing with their teddy bears.
'The Keeper' exhibition focuses on the preservation of objects, artworks and images, specifically those related to teddy bears. 'The Keeper' draws on impulse people have to save and hold on to items, regardless of the value. Along with some of the photographs featured in display cases are next to antique stuffed animals. The exhibition includes 'The Teddy Bear Project' to emphasize the overarching theme of attachment to objects. Curator Massimiliano Gioni used the attachment to teddy bears to showcase the attachment people have to personal mementos and private collections, even if the owner is the only one to see value in the object.
