Rarely does a film inspire such a response from its viewers as the newest installment of the Batman series, The Dark Knight, has. The makers of TheDarkCampaign.com have epitomized fan devotion by creating what they peg “a grass roots effort” to get The Dark Knight a much coveted Oscar nod.
Although much credit is due to the film’s Director, Christopher Nolan, the movie was launched into mythological status when star Heath Ledger was found dead from an apparent overdose of prescription medication shortly after the film was completed. Many fans are suggesting that Ledger deserves a post-humous Academy Award for his sinister role as the Joker. For making Jack Nicholson look like a puppy, I’d have to agree.
