Tesco recently announced a charitable initiative, called 'The Community Chill,' that seeks to mitigate issues related to surplus and waste for charities that offer food distribution-related services.
Food banks and community programs that donate food to combat hunger among those who are impoverished often face the dilemma of having too much food, that can expire if there's no space for them. Tesco's Community Chill project aims to combat this issue by providing funding so these charities and programs are able to buy fridges and freezers for food-storage purposes.
Charities can apply online, do not have to be a registered as charities but do have to be involved in charitable food distribution, and applicants have to register by the end of November to qualify.
