Education is one of the core areas of innovation we look at on SocialBusiness.org, both in the case of social enterprises that are helping deliver education to those who would otherwise not have access to them, and to programs and institutions that are trying improve the existing education systems.
Teach For All addresses both. They work with a variety of education-focused social enterprises to help discover and develop the next generation leaders who will move the education system in a progressive direction.
As they define it, Teach For All is "the global network for expanding educational opportunity."
Teach For All was launched in 2007 as a collaboration between Teach For America and Teach First, both of which place promising young leaders into schools facing educational challenges for two year periods. Their network now reaches 23 countries and is expected to expand to an additional 10-20 countries in the next two years.
Teach For All was started "to assist social entrepreneurs around the world who were inspired by the Teach For America and Teach First model and wanted to adapt it in their respective countries."
