Studio Schicketanz completes a renovated design for the previously seaside home that is home to architect Henry Hill. It is located on California's Carmel-by-the-sea dubbed the Cedar house -- it was originally constructed back in 1961. The home was then expanded 8 years after and then once again in 1971 with uniquely shaped rooms and rounded seating.
The studio speaks about the renovation, noting that the team had "uncovered the various changes that Henry Hill himself carried out, which resulted in a layered complex that was built – and tinkered with – slowly over time. Our intervention was rooted in the rigorous investigation of the architect's own drawings and the vintage images of architectural photographer Roger Sturtevant."
