The Stockholm Public Library design by Budi Pradono Architects will definitely appeal to book-lovers. With special curved reading pods and a design meant to "stimulate knowledge exchange among the library's varied collections," it really doesn't get any better than this.
An architectural masterpiece, the Stockholm Public Library is comprised of two main transparent columns, topped off with one gigantic suspended slab. The columns are where the public spaces are located; this includes the auditorium, a restaurant, a news room and reading areas. The slab above consists of two main levels that comprise the main book collections. These top floors also feature special reading pods that extend from -- and dip below -- the floor.
Made to be a public venue as well as a research building, the Stockholm Public library definitely puts an innovative and modern spin on traditional literary structures.
