Stack Overflow announced the 'Stack Overflow Offline' initiative in collaboration with 'Kiwix.' Kiwix is a nonprofit organization that creates open-source programs that help online resources translate their databases into offline archives. Kiwix most commonly works with Wikipedia. Through this partnership, the entire Stack Overflow question-and-answer database will be translated into a convenient, downloadable package that will automatically update whenever the user secures an internet connection.
The Stack Overflow Offline initiative is intended to help schools, libraries, prisons, scientific researchers, and others, gain access to a wealth of coding knowledge at all times. This prevents coding classes from being interrupted by internet outages, budget constraints, or other reasons. Currently, Kiwix's Stack Overflow Offline database measures in at 80GB.
