Spelling Stomp Has Kids Step on an Interactive Mat to Learn Words
Laura McQuarrie — February 2, 2015 — Life-Stages
While there are plenty of spelling games that have kids interact with the screen of a mobile device or computer, this concept gets young ones up and moving. As well as having on-screen components, Spelling Stomp is a game that consists of an interactive mat to work in physical activity to the learning experience.
After an image appears on screen, rather than identifying it by keying in the letters to spell that particular word, this game has kids spell words by tapping their feet on the right letters of the alphabet. In addition to being a great teaching tool when it comes to language, spelling and letter identification, Spello's developers also note this game's ability to aid with spatial awareness and overall motor skills. The project is currently still in development on the Quirky platform.
