Small scale living is being adopted around the world as populations continue to rise, yet until the Songpa Micro-Housing was conceived, many of these residences were addressing a very specific lifestyle. Instead of simply accommodating singles and the like, the Songpa Micro-Housing takes into account life changes that can involve everything from starting a family to even breaking up with partners.
Designed by SsD Architecture and located in Seoul, South Korea, the Songpa Micro-Housing allows people to rent one or more units at a time, combining them if necessary to create more space. Jinhee Park, principal-in-charge of the project at SsD, a firm based in New York and Cambridge, Massachusetts, say, "We wanted to make the new prototype of housing in Korea." It perpetuates a healthy sense of community that can be adopted anywhere in the world.
