References: charlwood.au & behance.net
Charlwood Design's 'Solar Tower Concept' is a futuristic thermal power station which will be able to power half a million households. Inspired by the complex network of roots beneath a tree, the Solar Tower Concept was originally designed for Enviromission and it will be exhibited Smithsonian Institute Design Triennial in New York.
The Solar Tower Concept uses the sun’s radiation to heat up the air collected under a glass area and the heat flows through the structure's chimney which provides energy to the turbines. The estimated energy that a single tower can produce is about 200 megawatts.
