Boulos Douaihy's Solar Island is an eco-conscious art installation that was submitted for the 2010 Land Art Generator Initiative Design Competition. Designed and proposed for Saadiyat Island and Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the Sun Island reflects the Sun's aura on the earth and then quantifies it to show the energy produced by sunlight.
The Solar Island consists of metallic geodesic spheres, featuring solar panels to collect sun energy during the day, and transforming the collected energy into electricity for nighttime illumination.
