Vehicle safety system manufacturer SmartWitness unveiled its latest traffic camera, the KP1. This high-tech traffic incident camera can compress video footage and transmit over 3G or 4G matters within one minute of a traffic incident occurring.
The KP1 system includes a forward-facing camera mounted on the windscreen and a second camera that can be placed to monitor interior, rear or side views. It uses a built-in GPS module that is integrated with Google Maps, Google Street View and Google Earth, allowing it to capture a 170-degree view of the road along with vehicle data such as location, speed, acceleration, braking and steering.
When the SmartWitness KP1 detects an incident, it captures a 10-second clip and compresses the video to a hand 150 kilobytes. The small file size enables the data to be sent in an email to authorized recipients such as employers or insurance providers within one minute of the incident occurring.
