'Sleep Quest' is a gamified sleep application concept posted on Devpost, a forum for developers to share in-progress, upcoming, ongoing, and conceptual projects. Sleep Quest is designed to promote healthy, consistent sleep habits in teens and youth by using gamification and competition. Players will be able to earn badges, level up, progress through the quests, and compete with one another in online leaderboards, all simply while getting a healthy, daily sleep.
In order to track sleep, the application will sync with Apple HealthKit to gain access to sleep data. This subverts the application's need to track its own sleep data, which assists with privacy and monitoring concerns. Using the data from HealthKit, the application will progress automatically when opened each day, leveling up characters, progressing through storylines, and offering new powerups.
The creator of the Sleep Quest concept stated that their own sleep was consistently hindered by staying up late to play Nintendo DS when they were younger, leading to them making the connection between desired gamification and a healthy night's sleep.
