Once again, Dove has come up with an empowering skincare campaign to demonstrate the effects of toxic beauty advice many teens come across on their social media platforms. This emotional short film showcases several mothers and daughters speaking on beauty advice they have gotten from social media platforms.
The instructions, tips, and hacks that the younger generation is getting from apps like Instagram and Twitter are unrealistic, and the results are always tampered with. When people come across beauty advice while scrolling through their phones, they destroy their confidence because the results aren't accurate, leaving them with unrealistic expectations. In turn, many young people will feel like something is wrong.
This Dove skincare campaign also shows that toxic influences can even come from home, with a mother saying, "Botox is amazing, you’re never too young to start.”
