This Skin Deep App Tells you What Chemicals are in Your Cosmetics

A new way to detecting whether your makeup is good for you or not is the Skin Deep app. It was created by America-based Environmental Working Group. The app breaks down more than 80,000 cosmetic products and what is inside them. It can also rate the safety of those ingredients so you know exactly what harm you may be causing to your skin. Nneka Leiba is the deputy director of research at EWG in Washington and she said that surveys showed women are exposed to about 168 chemicals in their everyday cosmetics.
The Skin Deep app comes complete with a barcode scanner, which will make choosing which products to buy very easy in-store. A ranking system was created to classify whether the product is low, moderate or a high hazard. It also offers an ingredient search so you can identify what some of the unknown ingredients are. This is going to revolutionize which products we choose and why. Now we can be savvy and smart shoppers with our cosmetics.
