Singtel is a Singapore-based telecommunications company that recently made the foray into the Internet of Things with Singtel SmartHome.
With Singtel SmartHome, homeowners will be able to use SmartHub to manage motion sensors, cameras and plugs via a smartphone app. The smart home system will also make it possible for consumers to remotely lock their doors, monitor their home and program their air conditioning systems to be ready upon arrival.
What's most interesting about the SmartHome is that it the SmartHub is being offered to Singtel's fiber broadband subscribers for a monthly subscription. So far, two starter kits are being made available for about $18 or $32 monthly as part of two-year contracts. Non-Singtel consumers also have the option to purchase these kits, but for about $468 or $906 respectively.
