KFC Hong Kong and Macau Will Eliminate Single-Use Plastics
Justin Lam — August 31, 2018 — Eco
In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastics KFC will start its phasing out of plastic straws. This new eco initiative will not be rolled out to all KFC locations around the world and will instead begin its focus at 71 of its location in Hong Kong and Macau. This new elimination of single-use plastics comes off the heels of a successful plastic reduction program at nine Hong Kong locations, to which customers “responded positively” to the scheme.
This new single-use plastics initiative is being done to help alleviate KFC's environmental impact on the world, but the company has yet to say if the project will expand out of Hong Kong and Macau. According to Janey Yuen, chief operating officer of KFC Hong Kong and Macau, "We believe that every little step counts, so we decided to engage our customers and make the effort by launching this ‘no straws and lids’ action in all of our stores."
