TIFF and Instagram recently teamed up to create the '#TIFFxInstagram Shorts Festival' as a new way to celebrate digital shorts and social media-savvy filmmakers.
The competition calls for filmmakers of all kinds to submit a short to the photo- and video-sharing platform using the #TIFFxInstagram tag. The selected finalists will have the chance to see their work shared by TIFF and the winners will be invited to attend the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival for a truly once-in-a-lifetime networking opportunity.
A few months ago, this short film competition might not have even been possible. In the past, Instagram has only allowed users to upload 15 seconds of video, but this limit was recently upped to 60 seconds of video, which leaves much more room for creative storytelling.
