This nature-proof shopping bag helmet (also known as the Grappa Bag) might look ridiculous, but in some parts of the world this Japanese invention actually makes sense. Nobody carries around their safety gear every day to protect them against the small change of a possible earthquake, but people do carry bags. This notion is how the bag came to be.
The bag looks like an ordinary shopping bag, but beneath the bottom panel there is a protective FPS foam which, the company that produced it claims, should protect you as much as other protective helmets. Folded, the bag is no bigger than an umbrella, but in an emergency it can protect your head.
The design of the shopping bag helmet is not up to snuff yet, but fortunately the designers are open to suggestions.
