Studies are showing that shopping and porn can in fact give different people comparable highs. An avid shopper can attest to the built-up excitement that comes from a big red sale sign over your favorite dress this season. Similarly, pornographic films give others a sensational rush.
With 50 volunteers' heart rates, eye movement and emotion responses observed, the University of Westminster has deduced that proportional reactions result from each activity. In the case of both experiments, the shoppers and film-watchers were both scoring between 5 and 7, where 10 would be extreme excitement equivalent to severe trauma.
