For one night only, the Yaletown community in the city of Vancouver, Canada will hold a free outdoor community art event that will take place on Saturday, February 21st, 2009. The ‘Illuminate Yaletown’ exhibition will be the first annual light installation community event of its kind in the city and will feature many up-and-coming artists and architects that the city of Vancouver has to offer.
Presented by the community’s business improvement association as well as the local public transit authority, the free social event will also feature live musical talents, ice sculptures, pyrotechnics, fire-dancing, interactive activities, and a photography contest.
In particular, the photography contest would do well to document the event as well as give local photographers and photo enthusiasts a chance to showcase their talent with a chance to win more than $500 in prizes. There will also be a kickoff cocktail party held in the nearby Hamilton Street Grill.
The ‘Illuminate Yaletown’ event will not only shine a brighter spotlight on Vancouver’s hippest neighborhood, but will also invite its members to engage in a night of fun, family-friendly and, best of all, free art showcase that will bring the community closer together as they continue this celebration of creativity for years to come.
