Shawn Barber is an artist who has been documenting the tattoo culture for several years. His paintings include portraits of people with tattoos as well as life inside the tattoo parlor.
Shawn Barber’s tattoo paintings are currently being shown at San Fransisco’s Shooting Gallery in an exhibit titled “Tattooed Portraits: Snapshots.”
“Tattooing gives so much more than it takes. It allows an individual to acknowledge life with permanent markers,” says Shawn Barber of his work with tattoos. “Getting tattooed is a leap of faith that reminds you of that exact time and place for the rest of your life.”
