Those living in Shaghai might want to take a good, long look at the Shanghai Sphere. The Shanghai Sphere was designed by Oliver May for the Michelin Design Challenge. This spherical concept car was designed for use in the year 2046 and gets its shape from the buildings that make up the Shanghai skyline.
As with nearly every car designed for the future, the Shanghai Sphere is powered by electricity. The Sphere can seat up to four people and does not have standard automobile features such as a dashboard or steering wheel, with driving done via handheld controller. May's design can be used either on its own or in conjunction with a few other Spheres. The idea behind connecting multiple Spheres is that traffic congestion could be eased if every vehicle that was going to the same place was in its own, private lane.
