Pol Ubeda Hervas’ Shadow Photography is a Haunting Vision
Sarah St.Jules — July 17, 2013 — Art & Design
Taking professional pictures is a medium that requires a great setting, good light and a perfect connection with the model; however with Pol Ubeda Hervas’ shadow photography there is no model in sight.
The collection entitled ‘I’m Not There’ showcases a backdrop, shoes and a shadow. No one is present in any of the pictures, making the possibility of a connection difficult. This series, however, is full of emotion and it has an inherit eerie vibe. Hervas has been able to evoke the feeling of loneliness, and to make the viewers feel as if those shadow people truly believe they are invisible.
This collection of shadow photography goes to show that there doesn’t need to be a subject present in order to create emotion, and that sometimes a shadow can say more than any person could.
