The idea of sewn wood to create furniture is just so crazy it might work. While sewing is a craft best reserved for soft and tactile materials it can also be used to great effect when speaking about wood.
Farg & Blanche uses sewing for their new line of sewn wood tailoring furniture. It can be hard to imagine a needle and thread passing through a thick piece of plywood but this is exactly what has happened for this set of furniture. The plywood is sewn together using a sewing machine to layer together various layers of plywood, the effect is a multi-layered piece of furniture.
The finished products though intricately sewn together do not look to have sewing marks which was one of the points of the project, but just knowing that you can sew the material together and receive a flawless piece of furniture is encouraging and awe-inspiring.
