Many people who live in densely populated urban areas can easily find themselves going extended periods without interacting with those around them, so the 'Recharged' public seat bench is designed to encourage more communication. The 'Recharged' bench works by incorporating an induction charging surface on the interior portion to let sitters place their compatible device down for charging. As their device charges, the person is given time to interact with others who are doing the same to encourage a more social experience.
The 'Recharged' public seat bench is the design work of Basten Leijh in collaboration with Royal Ahrend and works by incorporating a specialized material called HI-MACS that was developed by LG Hausys for crafting furniture, household items and much more.
