EFFEKT Designs the Better Energy Charge Park
Amy Duong — February 22, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture studio EFFEKT created the Better Energy Charge park in Sønderborg, Denmark which functions as a classic charging station for EVs but also as a place for drivers to slow down and unwind. It features comfortable seating areas and gardens at the location as a means for visitors to charge mentally as well. The notion was to create an inviting space for drivers to rest as their cars are charging with wildflower gardens, wooden benches, and a canopy.
Creative director of the studio Sinus Lynge tells Dezeen, "A main idea was to offer the drivers a chance to recharge mentally while they wait for their cars to charge. Therefore, the entire station is designed as a drivable garden with an inviting and playful roof structure reminiscent of a classic garden pavilion, offering a completely different experience than what we associate with traditional gas stations."
