Sustainable Scouts Uniforms

This summer, Girl Scouts is introducing eco-friendly new scouts uniforms featuring recycled materials. While the fresh designs keep the traditional color scheme and overall design, the updated sash, vest and tunic now feature a mix of 40% recycled material, equal parts virgin polyester and 20% cotton. These items make the most of REPREVE fiber from Unifi, which is made using recycled post-consumer plastic bottles.

With these sustainable new uniforms, Girl Scouts is introducing an upcycling program to turn unused products into new materials. As of August 2021, existing sashes and vests and other unused products will be transformed into aprons, pillows, totes and crossbody bags.

For the first time in 20 years, Girls Scouts is introducing new official apparel for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts for girls from kindergarten to grade five. These apparel designs were influenced by the 90s and vintage Girl Scouts styles.
