While it is handy to use a smartphone to snap an image of something that one wants to make a quick note of while on-the-go, the Scanbox portable scanner aims to improve the quality of those quick copies. Created by Phil Bosua, the device is exactly what the name entails it will be -- a box that functions as a scanner.
The lightweight laminated card folds up into a hollow stand when in use and flattens down when being toted around or stored away. By placing one's cellphone on top of the box and the paper or object one wants to scan beneath it, the device functions like a stand and provides a steady surface to ensure blur-free captures. It is capable of copying items as big as US Letter or a paper size of A4.
